Ai Giorgis’ festival or Drakoktonia is a feast at our village, Neo Souli and it is celebrated in a special way. A girl from the village is dressed as bride and she with a group of girls, dressed in traditional costumes, go up to the stage. After that, someone reads the legend of Ai Giorgis and finally a boy from the village, which is dressed as Ai Giorgis, appears on a horse and kills the dragon.
This year, the festival took place on 23rd April and had great success, as every year. A lot of Serres’ TV channels took shots and showed them at the news. We really had a great time and we hope that this feast will be continued for many years in the future.
